Womens month

The webpage for the 2023 National Women’s Month Celebration is up!

The 2023 celebration marks a juncture in the advancement of women’s rights as it launches a new recurring theme from this year to 2028: WE for gender equality and inclusive society. It sparks a renewed commitment to the advocacy and banks on the gains achieved during the 2016-2022 theme, WE Make CHANGE Work for Women, which emphasized the need for compassionate and harmonized networks towards gender equality and women’s empowerment (GEWE).

We begin this new era of the National Women’s Month Celebration with the hope and ambition that WE are all for Gender Equality, WE are all for an Inclusive Society.

Learn more about the new theme and check out the focus and activities for this year here: https://pcw.gov.ph/2023-national-womens-month-celebration/

Empowering women is the key to strengthening disaster resilience of communities. This publication was contributed by the UP Geography 255 (AY 2020-2021, 2nd Semester) through their Service Learning Activity (SLA). The SLA is a collaboration with PCW that endeavored to identify gender issues in disaster experience, response, and management and compile a list of research studies, publications, manuals /modules, and other relevant materials related to gender and disasters in the Philippines. Garcia highlighted the great contribution of all the employees who reliably help the Agency deliver even beyond the expected outputs through unwavering teamwork.   PIA Caraga will continue to advocate for a VAWC-free work environment, safe from any form of abuse and violence, and promote gender equality and women empowerment. Here are the equally beautiful smiles of the women and men of PIA Caraga on a Purple Wednesday, March 8 as the team actively participated in the joint celebration and simultaneous activities of the International Women's Day and the 2023 Women's Month. #ExplainExplainExplain #InternationalWomen'sDay2023 #WEcanbeEquALL #PurpleWednesdays

Female bus drivers

Two Filipino women make #herstory as they become part of the first ever batch of female bus drivers deployed by the Dubai Road and Transportation Authority (RTA). According to the Department of Foreign Affairs, Republic of the Philippines, as reported by the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ms. Marygoldcez Carolina Diwa De Castro, 36, and Ms. Ailen Pueto Leaño, 46, were first employed by the RTA to operate internal city buses back in July 2020. Now, they are assigned to drive double-decker buses, with a capacity of 120 passengers per trip, deemed as a milestone in a male-dominated field. A move that is unprecedented in the Middle East region, the two Filipino drivers broke the glass ceiling, proving that careers have no gender.
