Female bus drivers

Two Filipino women make #herstory as they become part of the first ever batch of female bus drivers deployed by the Dubai Road and Transportation Authority (RTA).

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs, Republic of the Philippines, as reported by the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ms. Marygoldcez Carolina Diwa De Castro, 36, and Ms. Ailen Pueto Leaño, 46, were first employed by the RTA to operate internal city buses back in July 2020. Now, they are assigned to drive double-decker buses, with a capacity of 120 passengers per trip, deemed as a milestone in a male-dominated field.

A move that is unprecedented in the Middle East region, the two Filipino drivers broke the glass ceiling, proving that careers have no gender.
